Site Reliability Manager

Reports to: Director of IT OpsLocation: Boise, ID

Job Summary: This position will be responsible for managing and participating in a team that provides highly available, secure, and compliant networks, systems, and services. Activities include mentoring, coaching, developing, and leading the SRE team. Team activities include provisioning, configuring, deploying, maintaining, monitoring and improving Kount’s infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include management of physical security, datacenter facilities and office facilities.


  • Monitor, track, and report on the performance and availability of Kount’s services.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain application support dashboards.
  • Insure policies are followed and standards are met to support security and compliance efforts.
  • Prioritize and manage the team’s work to insure technical debt is eliminated and projects are supported.
  • Review and approve changes to systems, networking, and storage infrastructure.
  • Work with senior management, development, and QA teams to understand and support critical projects.
  • Negotiate pricing for bandwidth, infrastructure, services, and support.
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Mentor, provide feedback, and support team members.
  • Manage and participate in the primary on-call rotation.
  • Troubleshooting and resolution of production issues.
  • Lead the team in process improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and security updates
  • Schedule and perform maintenance for infrastructure and production services.
  • Document, develop, and improve operational practices and procedures
  • Implement, deploy, and support internal and customer facing services
  • Implement, deploy, and support third party and open source software
  • Implement, deploy, and support physical and virtual servers
  • Implement, deploy, and support networking infrastructure
  • Implement, deploy, and support storage infrastructure
  • Resource allocation to meet development and production needs (Bare metal, AWS and VMware)
  • Provide operational support to cross-functional product development teams
  • Assist with improvements to the continuous integration and deployment processes
  • Assist specialists and cross-functional teams with product improvements
  • Maintain configuration management and orchestration tools.
  • Manage access to IT assets and resources
  • Manage physical access to secured areas


  • 4-year college degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or comparable IT experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with IT network and systems administration
  • Background with Unix/Linux operating systems, storage devices, virtualization, and networking.
  • Knowledge of DNS, Internet protocols, web servers, and load balancing technologies.
  • Must have the proven ability to lead a team by both direction and example.
  • Must have the proven ability to break up large/complex projects to allow for iterative development.
  • Must have ability to analyze complex issues at a detailed level.
  • Must have excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have a working familiarity with provisioning, management, orchestration, deployment, monitoring, and continuous delivery.
  • Must have familiarity with scripting and automation using languages like Bash, Python, Perl, and Ruby.
  • Must understand the basic concepts of version control (Git, SVN).
  • Must have strong verbal, written and organizational skills.


  • Experience with project management, agile methodologies, and Scrum
  • Experience with Puppet, MCollective, Splunk, Nagios, graphite, grafana
  • Experience with Apache, PHP, Nginx, ActiveMQ, Java, Tomcat, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity
  • Experience with Cassandra, Oracle, Elastic Search
  • Experience with Cisco UCS, SAN, NAS, Juniper firewalls, ADCs
  • Familiarity with PCI and information technology security standards
