Idaho Business Review: 30 Best Places to Work in Idaho named by IBR, Populus

29-Apr-2014

As employment grows in Idaho, employers are becoming increasingly competitive and more are striving to be “competitors of choice.”

This year, after an employee satisfaction survey through Populus, a marketing and research firm, 30 companies have been identified by Populus and the Idaho Business Review as the top Best Places to Work in Idaho. It’s the seventh year for the program and the first time since its inception that there have been so many companies in the running. In addition to 10 in the Large Company category (more than 100 employees) and 10 in the Small Company category (more than 20 and less than 100 employees), there are 10 in the Micro Company category (more than 10 and less than 20 employees).

Employees of participating companies take confidential surveys that cover the following topics: compensation and benefits, work environment, company management, employee growth and development, and work-life balance. Those who score in the top 10 in each category are named the Best Places to Work in Idaho. This year, more than 50 participating companies scored well but didn’t make it into the top 10. Those awardees are listed on the Populus website. In total, nearly 80 companies participated, but for a variety of reasons – for example, they didn’t complete the process or didn’t score well – did not get listed.

Paul Butcher, president and director of research for Populus, said the survey results show that employees value leaders who are engaged.

A well-run company appeals to customers, Butcher said.

“The way an organization treats their employees is a pretty good indication how they’re going to treat their customers,” he said.

The Idaho Business Review is proud to recognize the top 10 companies over three categories, said Sean Evans, Idaho Business Review publisher and vice president. “Increasingly, we know Idaho businesses need to effectively compete for qualified and motivated workers. The Best Places to Work award honors companies that are doing a great job keeping their employees happy.”

Honorees will be recognized at an awards reception 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 15 at the Boise Hotel and Conference Center. The order in which the companies are ranked will be revealed at the event. The companies will be profiled and published with the Idaho Business Review April 18.
