Kount Summit ’17 Recap

posted on: Fri May 26 2017

It was another record-breaking year for Kount Summit!

Every year for the past 5 years, Kount has teamed up with CNP Expo to present the premier combination event for fraud prevention professionals. This year, nearly 200 Kount merchants, speakers, panelists, partners, and team members gathered together at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida under the banner: “Where The Fearless Unite.”

Highlights of Kount Summit ’17 included:

  • Keynote speech by Steve Casco, Founder and CEO of CNP Expo and CardNotPresent.com
  • Keynote speech by Josh Johnston, Data Scientist at Kount
  • Inaugural Partner Summit attended by dozens of Kount partners in the anti-fraud ecosystem
  • Hands-on breakout sessions to help merchants get the most out of their Kount solution and partner integrations
  • Gala awards dinner in the “Sharks Underwater Grill” that handed out multiple “Fraudie” awards, including “Best Fraud Fighter” to PetSmart.

Steve Casco’s powerful morning keynote—“Build to Change”—examined the rise of global competition and online marketplaces that are forcing retail companies to adapt to succeed. Steve noted how eCommerce teams are being tasked with opening new sales channels while optimizing their current operational strategy, and highlighted major areas of opportunity and growth—including technology and geography. He also explored the five major challenges ahead for companies seeking to expand their existing markets.

Josh Johnston’s afternoon keynote presentation—“What is Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning?”—provided insights into these leading-edge technologies and how Kount employs them in a multi-layered approach to boost sales, beat fraud, and reduce fraud prevention costs. Josh’s informative and educational session took the format of a “101” guided approach to make this esoteric subject easy-to-comprehend for non-technical audience members.

At the inaugural Partner Summit, Kount’s partners united to explore new ways to make the global fraud prevention ecosystem better, faster and smarter. A number of exciting new possibilities and opportunities came out of these sessions, producing the promise of robust solution road map for the coming year.

Kount Partners

Kount experts, merchants and partners once again united in multiple hands-on, small group breakout sessions where they explored tried-and-true tips, tricks and tactics to get the most out of the Kount solution. Especially well-attended were the three partner breakout sessions, where participants took a deep dive into the enhanced capabilities provided by Kount’s integrations and partnerships. Monica Eaton-Cardone of Chargebacks911, Darlene Jewell of Ethoca, and Beth Shulkin of Whitepages Pro showcased all the ways they help Kount merchants reduce fraud, increase sales and win more profits.

But perhaps the most anticipated aspect of Kount Summit was the 2017 awards dinner. Not only was the venue the perfect setting—the Sharks Underwater Grill where diners mingled with more than 50 sharks visible through an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling glass (a visceral reminder of the fraudsters continuously circling eCommerce operations and online businesses)—but the Fraud Fighter awards ceremony made it truly an evening to remember. The “Fraudies” winners for 2017:

Fraudie Awards

  • PetSmart – Best Fraud Fighter
  • Crate & Barrel – Best Boost Sales
  • Remitly – Best Mobile App
  • Young Living – Best International
  • JR Dunn Jewelers – Best Omni-Channel

Brad Wiskirchen summed up the successful 1-day event: “Kount Summit ’17 demonstrated once again what key roles Kount and our partners play in the financial and operational success of leading eCommerce players. Not just in reducing fraud, but in enhancing profitability over the entire payments lifecycle. That includes boosting sales by making it easier to confidently say “yes” to more transactions and avoid revenue loss from false positives. It also encompasses the many ways Kount and our partners are helping merchants avoid friendly fraud at the time of transaction while making it easier to win against friendly fraudsters on the back end, too. And finally, it involves our continuing development and refinement of leading-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning that power automated systems and drive down risk management costs at every step of the process. We are grateful to everyone—customers, partners, panelists, speakers, and Kount team members—who brought their ideas, their insights and their winning attitudes to Orlando: ‘Where The Fearless Unite.’” See you next year!

Cheers
